Bear & Panda Collectors
Not every bear is a teddy, although a few sneak in here too. Some fish through Arctic ice, some munch bamboo all day and some cling to eucalyptus trees looking extremely relaxed. Limoges bear and panda boxes are made for the friend who watches nature documentaries on repeat or still talks about the zoo panda they saw years ago. Each one is hinged, hand-painted in France and arrives gift-boxed, no passport to the outback required.
Polar bears are the overachievers of the bunch, turning up as a graduate, a baseball player, a cowboy, a fisherman and even Santa's sidekick at an igloo. Pandas appear small, mini and on round bases, with one happily holding its bamboo. A polar bear mother and cub, a pair of koalas and the three bears of storybook fame cover the family side. Brown bears raid a beehive or cradle a honey jar, and classic teddies wear burgundy and blue bows. The fur is feathered on with fine, patient brushstrokes.
Bear collectors love to span the globe: a polar bear for the far north, a panda for Asia and a koala from down under. Group mothers with cubs for a sweet family vignette, or set a scene with a little faux snow or green moss. A panda on a desk is an instant mood lifter, and a honey bear looks right at home in the kitchen. Slip a ring or a tiny note into the hinged den before you wrap it. It is a gift that is simply unbearably cute.
