Cat Collectors
Cat people have a sense of humor, and they need one when their roommate knocks pens off desks and demands breakfast at four in the morning. Honor their furry overlord with a Limoges cat box that is hand-painted in France, hinged and arrives gift-boxed. It is the rare cat gift that will not be ignored or swatted off the table. Best of all, the actual cat cannot claim it as a bed. Purr-fect for birthdays, holidays and new kitten celebrations.
Expect cats doing what cats do best, which is mostly lounging on furniture they do not own. Kitties nap on pink pillows, curl up in baskets, sit in armchairs and play on seesaws. One hides in a shopping bag, one explores a trash can and one is very busy with the sewing basket. A Siamese poses like royalty, a black cat chases a butterfly and a mother cat cares for her baby. Lift each lid for a secret spot that is, naturally, the perfect size for a single treat.
A group of cats is called a clowder, which is also the best word for a shelf of porcelain kitties. Collectors often start with a box that looks like their own cat, then add seasonal designs so the display changes through the year. Arrange them on a sunny windowsill, since that is where cats prefer to be anyway. These make sweet gifts for pet sitters, vets and the friend who has a cat-themed everything. Consider this collection officially cat-approved.
