Teddy Bear Collectors
Almost everyone remembers their first teddy, usually the one with the threadbare nose and the ear loved nearly off. Limoges teddy bear boxes capture that same coziness in a keepsake that will look just as sweet decades from now. They make lovely gifts for a new baby, a christening, a child's birthday or a grown-up who still keeps their childhood bear and is not one bit embarrassed. Each one is hinged, hand-painted in France and arrives gift-boxed, ready for a gentle hug.
These bears keep a packed schedule. Picture a teddy riding a scooter, zooming down a slide, driving a car, pulling a red wagon and hosting a tea party. Some are chefs, some play baseball and some sit atop alphabet blocks or a stack of schoolbooks. Holiday bears ride Santa's sleigh, peek out of a Christmas stocking and guard a chest of toys from the North Pole. A few designs hide a removable teddy inside, a surprise within a surprise. Every tiny paw and button nose is painted by hand.
Teddy bears are one of the best themes for starting a child's very first collection. Give one each birthday or Christmas, and by graduation there is a whole picnic of bears on the shelf. Tuck a first tooth or a lock of hair inside the hinged lid for a keepsake that grows more precious every year. A nursery dresser, a shadow box or a high bookshelf away from sticky fingers all make good homes. Bear hugs all around.
