Dog Collectors
Dog people do not just love dogs. They love their dog, the one with the crooked ear and the habit of stealing socks. Skip the generic paw-print mug and find their pup in a Limoges dog box instead. Each one is hand-painted in France, hinged and arrives gift-boxed. It is just right for a birthday, a gotcha-day anniversary or the friend who just brought home a puppy and has not slept since.
The pack here is big and wonderfully varied. Look for Yorkies, pugs, Scotties, beagles, a Bichon with the morning paper, Dalmatians in doghouses and a Saint Bernard who looks ready for a rescue mission. Some pups play ball on the lawn, some travel in style in a tote bag and one has claimed the director's chair. A little French boy surrounded by puppies is pure charm. Every whisker and spot is brushed on by hand, and under each pup waits a hinged hideaway for a treat-sized secret.
Dog lovers rarely stop at one, in real life or in porcelain. Many collectors start with their own breed, then add every dog they have ever loved or a pup for each family member. A row of porcelain dogs on a bookshelf looks like a tiny dog show, and a single favorite on the nightstand is a sweet daily smile. These make great gifts for groomers, vets, dog walkers and anyone who talks to their dog in a special voice. Good dog, great gift.
